It did, however, induce an interesting logistical question of why the Empire didn't just use drone pilots in the first place. The idea made for some sharp ship-to-ship combat sequences, to say nothing of the sight of ostensibly heroic X-wings sporting the First Order’s color scheme. The Star Wars Resistance animated series introduced the intriguing notion of drone pilots: unmanned red-and-black X-wings used by the First Order for training exercises in their quest to reestablish the Galactic Empire.
